Faith without valid reason or cause is considered blind faith. So unless you're telling us you know something the rest of us don't...

I know what I know... and whether or not YOU believe that it's valid is immaterial....

Well, if you know what the rest of us know, that being that the site is down, Merv is nowhere to be seen, and communication has come to an absolute standstill, and the only glimpse people have of the future plans are the "word" of one guy in Vanuatu, then that faith you have is incredibly blind.

If you know something else, then you definitely know more than the rest of us.

Strange how when someone mentions blind faith you're one of the first to jump to the defense of those we talk about. If what we think is so immaterial, why so quick to respond? Afterall, nobody actually mentioned your name in the conversation so we could be talking about anybody.

You know, that reminds me of a joke about a group of blind men that met an elephant. I don't remember the joke. I wish I did, cause it was a relly cool way to decribe how different people ended up perceiving the same animal.

Anyone else know that joke? Now that I am a grandfather, I think I'm going to need it.

I know the joke you mean but forgetfulness seems to have caught me on that one.

Congratulations Grampa (and Grandma Sharon too).

The reading? What reading, specifically, do you recommend?

I am not the search function, only a moderator. Try all DXS related threads posted in these forums during the past 3 to 6 months. Because it is you that knows what you wish to find, you are infinitely more qualified to find it.

Here you go, Russ. I think I've posted this before, in reference to DX:

John Godfrey Saxe's ( 1816-1887) version of the famous Indian legend,

It was six men of Indostan
To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Elephant
(Though all of them were blind),
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind.

The First approach'd the Elephant,
And happening to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl:
"God bless me! but the Elephant
Is very like a wall!"

The Second, feeling of the tusk,
Cried, -"Ho! what have we here
So very round and smooth and sharp?
To me 'tis mighty clear
This wonder of an Elephant
Is very like a spear!"

The Third approached the animal,
And happening to take
The squirming trunk within his hands,
Thus boldly up and spake:
"I see," quoth he, "the Elephant
Is very like a snake!"

The Fourth reached out his eager hand,
And felt about the knee.
"What most this wondrous beast is like
Is mighty plain," quoth he,
"'Tis clear enough the Elephant
Is very like a tree!"

The Fifth, who chanced to touch the ear,
Said: "E'en the blindest man
Can tell what this resembles most;
Deny the fact who can,
This marvel of an Elephant
Is very like a fan!"

The Sixth no sooner had begun
About the beast to grope,
Then, seizing on the swinging tail
That fell within his scope,
"I see," quoth he, "the Elephant
Is very like a rope!"

And so these men of Indostan
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!

MORAL.
So oft in theologic wars,
The disputants, I ween,
Rail on in utter ignorance
Of what each other mean,
And prate about an Elephant
Not one of them has seen!
