Yep, those were exciting times. One of the things that made them exciting was trying to weed through all the stories to get through to the real information. That proved to be a difficult task indeed.

I remember it. I don't recall if it was when I was a moderator for the DX4All site or maybe even before when it was DX4Dummies. Yes, I go back that far. I haven't lost interest in DX, but I've had to get another life while waiting for something to happen. What's this about going back to monthly fees? Can someone send me a link to that thread please?
Thanks!

I remember that post. As I recall it was posted by a Forum member who was not involved in DX or GDT... he was there for some other reason and wanted to check it out because there was a lot of interest in DX at that time.
Oh yes...btw...it was posted in Talkgold not DX4dummies or DX4all

Hmmm....
Isn't it past "the next day" now? I figured I'd be able to log into my DXS account today and set up some OutXchanges. Guess there have been "unavoidable", and "unforeseen" problems that have come up. That's shocking I tell ya. Just plain shocking!

Well, actually, perhaps allowing the situation to speak for itself may be a slightly better approach. I know that at least in the case of me doing something my wife disapproves of, the silence can be VERY telling, all by itself.
Also, I seem to recall that once a site is totally off line for more than 48 hours, when thery come back on line it takes 24-48 hours to propagate through the various name servers again. May have that slightly wrong, but I think i am in the ballpark, so to speak.

Would that also apply to IP-numbers?
Although those might have changed if the servers were moved?

The URL is assigned to an IP number. So, if anything changes, there is a period of time needed for the various nameservers to reprogram themselves with the updated information.
If you physically move a server plant, there is a good chance you will end up with new IP numbers unless you are paying the IP provider for those specific numbers and stay with that particular IP. I would suspect (this is opinion ONLY) that in the case of DXS, there is a good probability the IP address would stay the same. But, since they have been totally off-line for more than a week and the tracecerts stop in Australia at what seems to be a satellite uplink, I would expect 24-48 hours after "plugging" the site back in to the Internet before there was good data in the various name servers world-wide.
Mind you, it's been 5+ years since I had my fingers deep into that stuff and things change quickly nowadays so I may be a bit off.

You are correct on all fronts.
The silence coming out of the DX camp is indeed very telling.
Silly me. I'd forgotten about the propagation time! I'd bet it will be tomorrow that the site will start appearing around the globe!
I hope I can sleep tonight as I'll be very excited to see the site up and running!
