Information on DXSynergy downtime
I am putting this here because it should be easier to find for everyone rather than tucked away in other threads.
As we know, a lot of people have been having problems for weeks getting into the DXSynergy site, which we think is being caused by their dns problems, HOWEVER, there is now a new problem where nobody can get into the DXSynergy site because the server is unreachable.
I contacted DXS asking them about the latest problems and received this reply on 11th January GMT:
Quote:
Hello Lynnette,
We have just had some of the heaviest rains in recent days and our link with our satellite carrier has not able to hold connection long enough to maintain service for both in and out. We have had staff working on trouble shooting every possibility and even triple checking the settings and connections but haven't been able to solve the issue as yet.
It does now appear that there may be condensation formed after the heavy rains in a section of the equipment, which we have found out is a possible event that can happen at times. Everything possible has been set to resume connection and we are expecting connection within the next 24 hours by waiting for the change of the weather so we can have the service online again.
|
I then replied that if it was going to take longer than 24 hours could they please let me know and yesterday received this reply:
Quote:
Hello Lynnette,
It now appears it will take longer before the service is back online.
Regards
|
There has been no indication as yet when they expect to see the server back up, but if I receive any news I will post it here.

Hi lynnette,
Could you ask them if connection problems we've been having since the changover in late July 07 will end when the main development is in place?
Will they not be dependent on the ability to connect to satellites?
Quote:
From DXSupport ID: LDH-SDGQ1V-AIU5: Our service uses satellite connection from Vanuatu and there is a slower connection than normal direct Internet backbone connection but this will improve once we complete our next stage of earth stations that will carry much of the heavy data, which will have direct connection.
DXSupport ID: OAD-SGMDEJ-CB06
Thread Subject: contiuation of LDH-SDGQ1V-AIU5
This stage is part of the main development and is expected to be operating in this next 3 to 4 months.

Just received this:
Quote:
Hello Lynnette,
The hardware that has been found to be faulty is being replaced but will take about five days to arrive. We have been looking for alternative connections in the meantime however the size and setup of our equipment is different to others in the region so we can't find a quick replacement.
There have been reports that a number of communications have been knocked out during the last electrical storms that are coming through the region.
We'll keep you updated as we receive details.
Regards,
|

Not speechless, a term comes to mind: non sequitor.
