Anyway, the references in this particular thread are concerning the DXGC or DX Global Company. Regardless of the state of the URL, apparantly the DXGlobal Companies that GDT sold were the real deal, an actual "off-shore" IBC. I recently checked with the Vanuatu government and they said mine was still registered and in compliance.
Since there are a LOT of legal things to use an IBC for, I am in the process of doing the necesary due diligenge to find and obtain a new registrar to replace the one GDT used, since I feel that registrar is "tainted" by association.
Also, since DXS is unavailable and I would question the wisdom of using them as a bank even if they returned, I need to do research on this stuff so I can use the silly thing.

Regarding offshore companies, etc., some information:
1) As was indicated earlier in this thread, any comany formed anywhere (with very few exceptions) can bank anywhere. We live in a global marketplace, so any company located one place may have reason to bank in any other place. That said, some countries have regulations that will only allow entities registered in that country to bank there. Of course traditional financial and offshore centers will not have such arcane requirements. St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Cyprus, Belize, the Bahamas, and Vanuatu are all countries (among NUMEROUS others) where you could consider banking. Vanuatu has a pretty antiquated banking system from what I am lead to understand (we don't do any business there - so I can't say from experience).
2) Again, we don't do business in Vanuatu so I can't say for certain, but most small countries will only have one single registrar, and when the country is really small, there can at times be only one "registered agent" authorized within that country to provide the registered office and provide for service of paperwork from the government. As Vanuatu is a small country, it might fall within this category.
As long as the registered office/agent is still operable for your "DXGC", I wouldn't worry about any negative association by using the same registrant. The more relevant association in people's minds with whom you might contract relative to the operations of this company will be that it is registered in Vanuatu. That doesn't necessarily give a BAD vibe right from the outset, but most people will do a double take when they hear that the company is registered there, at least much moreso than they would if the company was registered in a more serious "business-friendly" jurisdiction like Panama, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore, etc.
My thoughts at least...
