All's Well that Ends Well

So here goes nothing. Start with new DVD/VCR recorder. After all it IS new and I really DO want to play with it! So that's the first one. I figure that even if I can't get anything else to work, at least this unit has 1 VCR, 1 DVD, and both record from the TV and each other, so this one COULD replace everything else if it must. I don't want it to, but it COULD - - - So I hook it up to the TV set - all alone. Sitting there by itself, just my new VCR/DVD recorder and the TV, what can possibly go wrong with this idea???

Almost afraid to look, but I peer around the TV set and to my great JOY and amazement, there is the DVD set up screen just like its supposed to be! Unbelievable! So I set it up, selected all my preferences in the settings and popped a DVD into the player and VOILA!!! It starts right up just like its supposed to!

I'm so happy that I'm jumping up and down, and singing all over the living room, and sending text messages to my daughter about what a FREAKING GENIUS I am! (she, of course, thinks I've gone off my rocker, but that's nothing new - lol) I'm my biggest fan, and she's my biggest critic - great combination - hahahhahahaha! Gotta love her!

So one by one, I added each unit and got it all right! I don't know what was wrong with my initial settings except that I don't think my new unit wanted to be routed through ANYTHING. The only difference is that this item is now #1 in the string, connected directly to the TV set. Even passing through the satellite dish screws it up, so lesson learned - put the new unit first in line, and all is well with the world. As usual, it was a round about trip, and I ook the scenic route to be sure, but I finally got here. I always do!

So now I have a DVD player, a VCR, and this new VCR/DVD player/recorder. I haven't had time to watch TV yet today (I think I've been here at DX4all pretty much all day?), but hopefully tonight I'll burn my first video tape onto a DVD disc. Whew!!! - as my son often tells me "Welcome to the 21st Century!"

This should certainly keep me very busy as I have an extensive video library that I will eventually want to upgrade to DVD. Should be fun to edit out all those commercials that I normally zip past!

Oh yeah, and don't forget those Christmas movies! That was what started this whole adventure. Funny how things always seem to snowball, but then it wouldn't be MY life if it didn't, now would it?!?

Oh yeah, flash back in time - did I mention that my son STILL hasn't called me back yet? Good thing I wasn't laying there dying - eh??? hahahhahaha!

But at least now I WILL be able to tell him that I figured it out, and didn't need his expertise after all! He'll get a good laugh out of it anyway!
