What's With That "Garage Logician" Member Name?

Only a wild guess here but I'm going to bet some of you have wondered 'what is a "Garage Logician" anyway?'. I can't even guess how many times I've tried to put that into text. Key word there being "tried". Quite a few months back I read a post on another forum and the writer was speculating I'm probably a bungling old fool that tinkers with a machine until it's beyond my ability to repair and then I take it to a shop to correct my mistakes. Yes, I make mistakes when working on machines but seldom ones I can't repair myself.
There is a talk radio station where I used to live (Minneapolis/St. Paul) with an afternoon show which came to be known by the nickname "Garage Logic". The host of this show is a well known local sports columnist that agreed to try doing an afternoon talk show. The program quickly developed as both host and callers discussed logical ways of doing things versus the ways many do them. An early on conclusion was that a man can solve most of life's problems while spending time tinkering in the garage. Thus the garage came to be referred to as "the men's crisis center". Over time "Garage Logic" took on a life and identity of its own evolving into a mythical community in a mythical county. Still the basis remained that a man can solve most things in the garage.
And to all you ladies thinking I'm being completely insensitive, Garage Logic completely believes in equal opportunity so come on out to the crisis center and roll up your sleeves. Hope you aren't put off by a little grease under the finger nails.
I infrequently catch the show any longer but thoroughly enjoy it when I do and still spend a fair amount of time in the men's crisis center. The problem now is the crisis is the mess I must get busy clearing out. Ahhhh, wellll!
