Jan, I think we've seen that snide is in the eyes of the beholder.

I agree that the Mods need to take the high road (I know, it keeps getting higher and harder to access).

I personally hate what some of the members' posts resort to. It's ok to have concern, it's ok not to trust, but it's all been said already. I stand to lose a LOT of money, and I'm not that positive about that not happening, but I have to adopt a wait and see attitude.

NOBODY actually knows much of anything yet; who knows if we ever will again. Negative speculation is inappropriate whining and serves no purpose. But I don't think that ONLY cheerleading in this site will give anyone much to say. Isn't there some middle ground? I think that's what you have striven for in the past, and I guess it boils down to censorship -- but rules is rules.

For now, we need to have something to talk about.

That's about 4 cents worth.............

I think I disagree. We do NOT normally offer someone a controlled thread for anything unless they pay for it or are a mod here. Douglas was the only other time I recall doing that for free. While there were severe "personality issues" between me and Douglas, that did not affect the folder. This time we are offering to completely close the posting so that it can, in effect, become the "Weekly DXS Gazette" or something similar.

The name I just made up was done "tongue in cheek" since I have an irrepressible sense of humor, but the offer is totally genuine and of course the folder name would be determined by Charles.

So, we are offering to host, FOR NO CHARGE, a place where updates, information and the like would be available for reading. No comments would be made in that folder concerning anything. Other than Charles' comments, of course. He would be the sole arbiter of who could post in that folder. Mods and other leadership people here would need access to the folder to remove other posts that made it in there (everyone needs to sleep sometime), but Charles would decide what actually got posted and by whom.

This offers a unique opportunity for Charles, DXS and GDT. Obviously they (DXS and GDT) cannot update anyone about anything through "normal" internet channels if the site is off line. However, the person I had talked with in the past had an email address that was not based in Vanuatu and was not part of the GDT domains. Also, the phone lines work pretty well. So, in times like these, this would be a great way to get some word out to at least a portion of the DxS account holders.

So, reading your comment, Jan, I choose not to take it as a "dismissive" wave of the hand and snide directional inference of "what ELSE would you expect from those idiots?" but rather as a challenge to provide some impartiality in the forum.

What say you?

Russ,

I meant that this thread... this poll is typical of leadership's response... it's a clear misinterpretation of what Charles suggested.... NO ONE has suggested that this forum or it's leadership should be acting as cheerleaders... I'm not cheerleading... Charles isn't... and David isn't.... and none of us has suggested recently that people should put money into DXS...

So, that means even I can misread and respond "off the wall" to a post. Imagine that. The "ape" screwed the "pooch"! Wonder how many times that happens to others?

Comments on this post
Yorel agrees: leave the "pooch" alone!

My point is that every time I have posted information about the DXS site, there is always a challenge to it from the Mods/Admins. So I asked the question, 'Does the leadership here what me to stop posting?' I still have not received an answer from all of you on this.

Charles
Charles it may be that a dedicated thread for your postings is in order and possibly could be limited to reporting versus open to public comment as the latter always seems to distort the original intent just due to the sheer magnitude of interests, perceptions, involvement, monies at risk. A complimentary thread coould be made available for unrestricted yet, responsible comment based on the latest reporting of progress or not.

DX accordingly is only one category of information/opportunity available thru the 4allaccounts and does deserve a fair shake and attention given to a resident expert as should each alternative category (those most knowledgeable could step up to the plate and be given similar privledge).

nlopedota certainly got that impression, so as we have our members interests at heart, I decided to see what the rest of the membership was thinking.

Pot calling kettle I think.

Since we relaxed the attitude in here, some of us are not holding back when replying, we give as good as we get.
Adjust your attitude to certain members and I'm sure the other members will reciprocate ... and maybe back up the positive posts with facts

Charles, please keep posting! I'm sure many readers here appreciate your posts. Your own folder would be great - saving a lot of searching for those of us who are primarily looking for DX-news.

My suggestion for the survival of 4allaccounts (mods, please move to appropriate thread if there is one): Why not create something like an "Angel-Investor"-Membership or donation fund? I didn't see much benefit in a platinum membership lately, but I would gladly be willing to donate some if this is what's needed to keep this forum alive during the DX-downtimes. We have been collecting funds for items of mutual interest before.
