Ok, so I am not sure what you all want... if I find a message from DXSupport or the "contact" on this forum that they intended be shared and someone else hasn't already done it, then I may post it somewhere else, right? Each time I have said it came from dx4all, what more do you want? You want the link posted also, would that make you happy?
What I won't do is pm someone to get permission to post something from DX that they already say can be shared, it simply takes too much time.

Where on EARTH did you get that idea????

It was my understanding from a long time ago that GDT did not want to have forums competing. However, over the last year dx4all has used their position of private communication with the "GDT contact" to further entice membership which directly affects the advertising profits you get. That is totally unethical in this situation in my opinion. I have however contacted GDT to verify that it is alright to pass on any information they say "can be shared" so that at least it can be distributed to other forums.
|
the vast majority of the contacts I received were also posted at your forum... so how was that competing?? or enticing???

Right now we are at a turning point. People are deciding if they are going to give GDT more funds and you, the dx4all owners/admins have put yourselves in the position of presenting a biased opinion. If things don't work out as hoped, then you will be responsible to some extent for more lost money.
|
Robin... have you READ what admins/mods are posting here??? I think the only "biased" opinion left here is mine... and I'm no longer an admin OR a mod...

Robyn, you NEED to give FULL REFERENCE.
ie. Name the person who posted it here AND include the FULL DIRECT LINK to the page here on DX4All. As long as full reference is given, including that link there is no problem.
It's not about making us happy, it's about doing what is ethically right. Referencing material if it came from a third party source is an essential and pretty much considered basic internet ettiquette.

The posts I made were messages that GDT said were for all dxers to have access to. I did acknowledge that they came from dx4all but because I didn't actually post the link, I got a PERMANENT infraction.
I think that this is quite extreme since the original author (GDT) gave permission for reposting and just because the direct link was not posted can hardly be considered "unethical." However the fact that you require a link back to dx4all is basically claiming ownership of messages that came from GDT. Support messages should not be in the same category as other posts made on your site.
At any rate, your "punishment" (permanent infraction) certainly doesn't fit the crime (reposting support messages) especially when it was GDT's intent that they be passed on for the benefit of all dxers.

Considering these updates are personal emails between the sender and the recipient, you have absolutely NO idea what the intentions are. When they are posted, they are done so because the recipient chooses to do so, not because they have to.
We have no issue with you copying them and reposting on your forum, we just ask that you include a link back to the page on 4AllAccounts where the original was posted.
If you're unable to do this, then you're going to have to live with the consequences of your actions.

Wow, been almost a moth and we're still going at it. I seriously wonder what the issue is with posting a link to the original article/post. There doesn't appear to be anyone at DXStrategies that has anything good to say about DX4All, so they are not going to actually check the link, are they? If they did, they might be surprised at what they find.

OK, no problem, in the future, if there is one, I'll always post the links. Now, can you remove the "consequences"?

No. The infraction was given with good reason and will stand.
