Is this REALLY relevant?
Maybe it's just me.
When I log into DX4All, I usually click on Active Topics, or New Posts, just to catch up quickly with what's going on. Today, when I do that, I have to go through at least 2 pages of DX4All Movie Buff, DX4All Musicman, and DX4All Bookworm to find anything the tinyest bit relevant to DXS at all.
I realise it's a community site etc, but isn't that just a bit peculiar? If I wanted to know how to drive a ski boat - I've got google...
Maybe I got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning - but it makes using the site much more difficult.

You probably should go to User CP-Edit options-scroll to the bottom of the page-hold down the Ctrl key and start striking all catagories you don't care to view!

Yes go to your control panel and block those forums that you don't want to view posts in. Its as easy as that. Although this is a teaching portal for DX you must have noticed we have other forums here also. Mainly because people would get very bored when things slow down and would like other things to read. Good grief if we solely concentrated on DX and no other topics we wouldn't have still been open all the way through the slowdown

Yeah - I've done that!!
It was more of a what is the "DX4All website really about?" - is it really going to be a one stop shop for all the sports, news, movie and music reviews...... 'cos if it's going to use up bandwidth doing that - I thought that was what DXDaily was for.....
I know it's changing, which is good, from a pure teaching portal into a more community based site...but how far will it go?
It can go as far as it likes - no problem - it was a more about where it might end up, rather than where it is.
It's only an opinion. I might go and ask Alice what she thinks!!

OK - no problem.
It's just that other threads have been deleted when they are a blatant lift from other sites, and then just a signpost, with no discussion/input required or desired - and where relevance is questionable, i.e. the ski-boat driving.
OK - I'll shut up now!!

They are not "lifts" from other sites, they are RSS feeds, RSS feeds are put there deliberately for people to use, thats the whole point of them.
The site isn't changing at all, its had those categories in there for ages (months and months) and it depends on taste. I personally hate most sports (also hate housework so have that forum dropped from my view ) which is the point, people can just drop them from their view if they don't want to see them.

Sorry Guys - I'm not trying to cause problems. The reasons I was wondering was because:
(a) I hadn't noticed such a huge number of automatic posts from the RSS feeds before, and
(b) the ski-boat site gives some dodgy advice. It's OK if you live in the US, Japan, Phillipines, Thailand etc, but in Europe, Africa, Australia, NZ it could get you into trouble.

non DX stuff
Hi
I set my CP to exclued extranious (sp) threads last week. I noticed late this evening I was all of a sudden getting the sports stuff also. Had to go back into CP and reset it again, so maybe there was a hicup in the system, but I got my side of it set again. No biggie
Thanks
Cindy
